Christine Costumes

The character of Christine Daaé has some of the most beautiful costumes in the show, although the character Carlotta has some of the most extravagant. Within this section I'll take you on a tour of each costume, its relevance to the story and perhaps some of the symbolic elements the designer has woven in to subtly enhance the atmosphere created by the show.

Hannibal~ Christine graduates from one of the lead slave girls to the leading lady (singer) of this play within the play.
And:
Dressing Gown~ Christine wears this during her first meeting with Raoul and her first venture beyond the mirror

OK, now I know this is a bloke in the costume, and comes under cross dressing also, but it is actually a good costume, even if it doesn't have that flat circular piece of the US Hannibal costumes. And Christopher Carl looks beautiful;).

  • http://www.fyrelyte.com/phantom_of_the_opera1.htm Costume that looks more like an illustration in the Hirchfield illustrated novel by Leroux.
  • http://www.zianet.com/thegen/costumes/couples/phantomofopera.html I assume this is supposed to be the Blue Dress outfit.. it's white but.. the Cloak is blue and quite, quite lovely.
  • http://www.cdc.net./~stringer/Costumes.htm Jeff And Susan Stringer, moderators of the costume e-list at yahoo groups created a scene from the Music of the Night video. They have 'corrected' the spelling now, but I preferred it when they called Christine Kristin, as that is what is in the first drafts of the show and the Swedish spelling, sort of, this Swedish character.
  • http://wiliqueen.dreamhost.com/couture/media.html Costume of the Music of the Night video, Hannibal outfit and Dressing Gown, very well made from what I can see, and quite faithful to the OLC version.
